Best of Beauty: BeBe & Bella

Lately, food with probiotics, prebiotics and live active cultures has been all the rage. Science shows that probiotics help boost the immune system, help the digestive system run smoothly and fight eczema in children.

But new research is showing that you don’t just have to ingest probiotics to reap their benefits. You can slather them on your skin!

Skincare line BeBe & Bella is using probiotics to help people defy aging. The new BeBella line is the first complete dual process probiotic skincare system, designed to fight free radicals, increase skin hydration, improve the skin barrier, smooth the appearance of wrinkles and soften the skin.

I grew up worshipping the sun sans sunscreen with lemons in my hair to lighten up the blonde, so now that I’m in my mid-twenties, I’m looking for all the help my free radical-damaged skin can get!

I tried out the BeBella Probiotic Essentials Starter Kit to find out what all the probiotic hype was about.

This handy starter kit includes a facial cleanser, purifying facial toner, facial essence, hydrating night cream and eye cream, all in a super-pretty sparkly silver makeup bag.

The night cream was my favorite product. The product description claims that you will”wake up to skin that still feels moist and supple the next morning”. That is definitely true, although my skin still felt heavy and wet in the morning! My face was still coated in the night cream every morning after use. It’s not the best feeling, but hey, clearly it works, and you get to skip your morning moisturizer! (I’ll take anything that allows me to get 10 more seconds of sleep).

My wrinkly crows feet are also a fan of the eye cream, which soaks right in and definitely made my wrinkles appear less deep. I’m also a fan of the facial essence, which is a light water-based formula, perfect for layering under makeup in the morning.

Living in LA with all the pollution and smog, eating fatty foods and worshipping the sun means I’m exposed to free radicals all the time. I love that I’m doing something good for my skin by using probiotic products!

  1. It’s so interesting, now that I’m getting older (ugh), I’m so focused on taking care of my skin. I instantly related to you when you said that you used to lay out without sunscreen and with lemon juice in your hair – I did the same thing! Now I’m wishing I could travel back in time and put on some SPF! Love that you’ve found a great new line!
