Best of Beauty: Boots Botanics Hydrating Day Cream

I may be a total diva when it comes to fashion, but when it comes to hair and makeup I’m as low-maintenance as you can get. I only recently discovered salon hair care and I never ever use moisturizer or face cleanser or anything. This is because when I do use these things, my face gets irritated, dry, red and itchy. My skin is happy the way it is and doesn’t want any products on it.

When I get the opportunity to try facial products,I usually pass. I don’t want to mess with my skin’s equilibrium. But I know that as I get older, my skin will be less and less capable of taking care of itself, and I don’t want wrinkles or sun damage.

So when I received a tin of Boots Organics Hydrating Day Cream in my VoxBox from Influenster, I decided to give it a go. I started small, just using a smidgen under my eyes. After it didn’t bother my skin or give me an allergic reaction, I started using it on my neck as well, and on the tops of my ears (I heard this is a common place for sun damage to occur). Then I migrated to using it all over my face – cheeks, nose, chin and forehead and all!

Are my wrinkles gone yet?
Are my wrinkles gone yet?

And a miracle happened – my skin stayed happy! In fact, my face feels hydrated and smooth. I have to admit that I don’t see much of a difference, as my skin was in really good condition before. But I feel good about taking care of my face. I know this moisturizer will help my skin replenish itself, stay hydrated and fight sun damage, all things I definitely want as I get older. I’m already seeing wrinkles around my eyes, so I’m hoping that keeping this thin eye area skin moisturized will help combat some of that so I don’t have to go buy an expensive wrinkle cream (this moisturizer retails for just $12.99 at Target, a reasonable price I can totally get behind).

The best part about Boots Botanics day cream is that it’s 81% organic, made from plants like rosehip, jojoba oil and cocoa butter and free of parabens and mineral oil. Much better than the unpronounceable ingredients in most of my other body care products!
