Until now, I’ve only really reviewed the latest in organic, no-frills, the-way-nature-intended skincare for you guys. I’m going to turn that on its head today with the most luxurious, traditional, department-store-esque, model-sponsored beauty brand: Decort Cosmetics.
This brand has it all – the glamorous packaging that would look just as good empty on your dresser as it does full with product in your bathroom; the international name; the Kate Moss spokesmodel. Hell, it even SMELLS like”woman who shops in a department store“. You can call it”old lady, you can call it”Macy’s beauty counter madness, you can call it whatever you want. I call it”I finally made it as the adult I thought adults were like when I was a kid“.
The Overnight Performance Cream is the most amazing night cream I’ve ever tried. My skin is super low-maintenance, so it’s not hard to make my skin feel good. But just dabbing on this night cream before bed feels like a pampering experience. You can definitely tell that the quality is there, from the soft feel of your skin once it soaks in, to the way your face still feels moisturized when you wake up in the morning.
I’ve also become obsessed with the Essence Day Serum, which I love to apply before makeup in the morning. It provides a nice, even base for my foundation, and keeps my skin feeling fresh and clean all day long.
So imagine my dismay when I discovered I’m going to have to shell out $250 for the overnight performance cream and $180 for the serum when they run out. After all, I love being a diva on a budget.
After some tears of sadness and calculations of how I could cut meals to afford the cream, I realized it really does make sense. How much money have you wasted on drugstore creams that weren’t $250, but weren’t cheap either, only to toss them immediately because they were ineffective? Those $26 here and there on products you try and hate at CVS really do add up. For me, I’m happy I found a quality product that lasts a long time. It’s expensive to replace, but when you only have to use a little bit for major effectiveness, it’s still a financial win.
