We’ve all heard a lot about activated charcoal and beauty products, from charcoal toothpaste / loose powder that promises to whiten teeth and remove stains to charcoal face masks designed to remove impurities and even charcoal tablets as a hangover cure.
Does activated charcoal really work to remove toxins? The jury is still out on that one, but it is true that charcoal has great beauty applications.
PiperWai is the first aluminum-free deodorant that uses activated charcoal to absorb sweat and fight odor. It contains natural ingredients organic coconut oil, shea butter and pure Vitamin E and is cruelty-free.
I was intrigued by this deodorant, so I gave it a try. Don’t let the dark gray color fool you – the deodorant rubs on clear, so it doesn’t stain your white shirts gray.
It also smells really good. Marsh is intrigued by the smell and is constantly sniffing my armpits when I am wearing the deodorant!
I definitely did feel like PiperWai kept me dry and smelling good. However, it interacted with my Mystic spray tan, creating a truly terrible smell! From now on, I make sure to use a different deodorant post-spray tan and PiperWai for everything else.
My favorite part is the little to-go tubs. If you’ve ever tried to take a travel-size stick deodorant in your purse, you’ll know that the constant movement creates a broken stick, full of powder and mess when you open the lid. These to-go containers are applied using your fingers directly to the armpit, so no mess in your purse or makeup bag.
Have you tried activated charcoal deodorant? Let me know in the comments!
