As anyone who reads my blog knows, I have extremely dry and damaged hair, and I’m always on the lookout for new hair products that will make my hair softer and shinier.
I usually accomplish this by using hair masks instead of normal conditioner every time I wash my hair (you know, the masks normal people use like once or twice a month).
I’m stoked to have found a new hair mask to add to my repertoire (which I also mix up so my hair doesn’t get used to any one mask – UGH SO DEMANDING).
Schwarzkopf GLISS Hair Repair Ultimate Repair Anti-Damage mask has done wonders for my hair. It says “For Heavily Damaged Hair” right on the bottle so I knew it was designed for me.
I use this after shampooing. The coconut scent isn’t my favorite, although I know I’m in the minority of people who don’t like coconut.
The mask glides on smooth. I leave on for 5 minutes, then rinse out. After showering, my hair felt instantly softer.
But the real test comes by letting my hair air-dry. Usually, no matter what product I use, my hair air-dries into a crinkly, dry, crunchy mess with obviously dry and brittle ends. That’s why, although I loathe blowdrying my hair, I have to do it every time I wash.
To really put this product to the test, though, I opted to air dry. And – voila! It worked! I was able to air dry, and my hair is still super-soft and healthy-looking the next day!
But beware – this product IS very heavy. Even after washing out, the next day my hair is weighed down. Trying to flat-iron my bangs was like moving a cold knife through butter – aka not very smooth at all. And my hair is lacking volume and bounce.
So I’d recommend using this for deep repair, not for daily use when you’re going to need to curl your hair / leave your house. And really, for people like us with damaged hair, it’s ok to leave off the heat styling every now and then.
