As you all have probably noticed by now, I don’t prescribe to any one fashion aesthetic or genre. I love preppy pieces, classic items, edgy accessories, cute sundresses and everything in between. And mixing and matching categories is the best way to have some fun with fashion and create your own personal style!
However, above all I would describe my style as “Southern California”. As I write this post I’m wearing faded distressed jeans and a California state outline necklace and sandals, even though the weather forecast technically called for rain today.
That’s why I instantly fell in love when I saw the new Daniel Rainn lookbook, full of easy breezy boho-chic California tops and blouses.

Daniel Rainn is a fashion brand founded in 2008 by owner Mandy Wang and Creative Design Director (and FIDM graduate) Daniel Norzagaray. So it has been around for a while but is only now starting to take off, which showrooms in LA and NYC. The line draws its inspiration from both timeless and modern items, as well as the effortless way we Angelenos transition our outfits from day to night.
Right now, the collection focuses on tops – tank tops, short sleeves, long sleeves, blouses and tunics. There are dresses, jackets, skirts and shorts, but as you can see from the lookbook, tops really take center field.
I have a real problem with buying too much white, and in particular white lace. I just think the combination is so feminine but not too cute – sexy in a subtle and classic way. This white slightly-sheer blouse caught my eye and I’m already envisioning all the things I can pair it with in my closet.

My favorite item from the collection, though, would have to be this bright and sunny yellow flowy top. It just screams summer – although it is long sleeved, it’s so flowy and breezy, and such a happy color and print. I would pair it with jeans, like the model pictured here, with white capris, with a white high-waisted skirt, or even over my white bikini so that the white and gold bikini bottoms both match and stand out. It’s perfect for brunch, for a work event, for the beach, for work – have I mentioned how versatile it is? Haha.
What do you think of Daniel Rainn’s new collection? Have you heard of this local brand before? Let me know in the comments!
