My favorite liquor is bourbon, but Makers Mark has such a distinct taste, that you can’t really make many different cocktails with it.
I was stoked to find out about Heritage Distilling Company’s Brown Sugar Bourbon (BSB for short). Not only does brown sugar bourbon sound amazing, but the distillery is majority-owned by women, and family operated! Drinking good whiskey AND supporting woman-owned businesses sounds like a good day to me.
I decided to try out a recipe on Heritage Distilling Company’s site for Sean and my’s annual Halloween party. Once a year, we go all out for Halloween, and host anywhere from 60-150 guests in our house at any given time.
I decided to batch-make this Apple Cider Mule for the party. It was a huge success – delicious, highly alcoholic and very seasonal.
Check out the recipe for yourself below and give it a try this fall!
Heritage Distilling Company Brown Sugar Bourbon Apple Cider Mule
1 oz HDC Brown Sugar Bourbon
1 oz apple cider (I used apple juice)
3 oz ginger beer
Pour over ice, stir with a cinnamon stick and garnish with an apple slice. Serve.
To batch make this cocktail, I multiplied the ingredient sizes by 8, as there are 8 ounces in a cup. So I added 1 cup BSB, 1 cup apple juice and 3 cups ginger beer in a giant pitcher, then repeated until the pitcher was full.
I also chopped up apple slices and let them soak, and threw in cinnamon sticks to soak as well.
