Last week, I started a new job as a Senior Account Executive at a tech PR firm! I couldn’t be more excited about the job, my new responsibilities, my kickass new clients or my new coworkers. But the most exciting part of my very first week was definitely getting to move in and make my new space my own and gear up for a productive career!
At my new PR firm, everyone has these beautiful white wooden desks. The simplicity of the desks makes decorating a breeze. I wanted to use bold colors to stand out against the crisp white. So I opted for my favorite color, hot pink, and a gorgeous shade of trendy bold turquoise to make my vision come to life.
My desk design started when I saw these hot pink drawers at Target. I knew they would be perfect to hold little desk items like post-its, chapstick and hair ties. Then I saw a matching notebook holder. And since I go through notebooks like nobody’s business, I decided to snap that up too.
From there, a vision of hot pink and bright orange came to life. This “Hello/Goodbye” wooden sign was a fun addition. I try to remember to make it face “Hello” outwards when I’m in the office, and “Goodbye” when I head out for the day.
This hot pink pail was just $1 at Target! It’s perfect for holding pens, pencils and highlighters. The white trash can was only $3!
Last on the pink side, I bought this pink and white chevron print canvas and rope bin for the floor. It holds my Cliff bars, some chargers, a jacket for when I get old and other miscellaneous items in a semi-organized way.
My computer accessories are on the turquoise side of the camp. I purchased this turquoise rubber coated hard laptop case for my brand-new MacBook Air from River Panda on Amazon. Not only was it under $15, but it came complete with a turquoise keyboard mat to protect the laptop keys. The case snaps on so easily and looks amazing! I love how it lets the Apple logo shine through the front when the laptop is on.
Laptop trackpads are super convenient, but they are also difficult to use and tiring to your hands. The Mac gestures have me spreading my fingers and pinching them in ways they don’t naturally move, straining my muscles! So I purchased this wireless mouse from Sprocker on Amazon as well. Just add 2 AAA batteries, insert the USB sensor into your computer, and the two devices connect automatically! This mouse is so simple to use and saves my hands from getting tired halfway through the day.
I chose this bronze mouse specifically for this mousepad, a vintage wood chevron print design from Justin Lee Mouse Pads on Amazon. Not only do I love the pattern, but the turquoise in the mouse pad is the same exact shade of blue as my MacBook skin. Even better, this bronze mouse is the same shade of bronze/gold as the mousepad design. Put all together, these items are a match made in coordination heaven.
Of course, nothing could be better than the artwork that was already hanging above my desk, which I did not pick out but totally would have if I had gotten the chance: “Don’t Worry Be Yonce” and “LA is a Great Big Freeway“. Incidentally, the hot pink and teal match my desk items perfectly. Great job, team!
With my desk set up for efficiency and representing my personality, I feel ready to tackle this new job and kick some butt as an SAE!
Ok, I need that chevron mouse pad! I work in finance and could definitely spruce up my space, thanks for the inspo!
