This outfit made me feel really cute, really creative and really confident – I got lots of compliments on it all day! My goal was to look “A little bit country, a little bit rock’n’roll”. The “country” parts are the ruffly dress and the denim vest, as well as the suede boots. The “rock” parts are all the studs on the denim vest and how funky the studded moccasin boots are!

This layered blue strapless dress is from Wet Seal. I rarely shop there, but I found this dress years ago in the clearance aisle and I have gotten so much use out of it. It looks great on its own, with a belt, with a jacket, etc. The denim studded vest is from Fashion Rush. I use it to “punk” up my most girly outfits, like spaghetti strap floral dresses and long baby pink dresses. These boots are my go-to shoes for fall, and they’re from Target, so you know they are uber-comfortable.

I had fun putting this outfit together because I was able to cohesively combine a lot of items that one normally wouldn’t think go together. That’s all the fun, after all! Anyone can wear a dress that was pre-made, but it takes a real stylin’ fashionista to combine items! So go out and buy some separates, get creative with your accessories, and see what you can come up with! The outfits don’t always work, but sometimes you’ll find a winner.
