I couldn’t describe my style in any one genre. I’m not preppy, or classic, or goth, or punk, or Old Hollywood glam, or a rocker, or East Coast, or country, or any of that. I just wear what I like! I often like to mix pieces that are stereotypically from one “genre” of style and mash them together for a new look. Here’s one example of an outfit where I did just that and I really enjoyed the results!
I started with this textured beige v-neck t-shirt from Target Style. I really like how this shirt isn’t just solid beige. It’s got a blend of a few different shades to be really fun. But because it’s a neutral, I was able to pair it with this bright hot pink skater skirt from Forever 21 and totally get away with it!
Next, I wanted to add a rock’n’roll flair. I topped the shirt with this studded denim vest from Fashion Rush Clothing. Not only is it studded, but the sleeves of the t-shirt underneath poke out, for a super DGAF vibe.
Then I decided to go a bit country. These suede fringe ankle booties from Target are the perfect accompaniment. The fringe is out there, and it completely contrasts with the studs on the vest, yet also strangely compliments them at the same time.
Last, for some classic, in this Tiffany’s heart necklace and Tiffany’s double-band silver ring.
How do you pair different categories of style and refuse to be put into a label? Let me know in the comments!
