Looking around at street style and in the stores, you might almost think it was the 90s again. Ah, the 90s. A good old time of grunge, neon, crop tops, funky hair and piercings and, best of all, flannel.
Every girl and every guy needs at least one really good flannel in their closet. Before I headed to my best friend’s dad’s NHRA race, I decided that it was time for me to find my flannel. After all, what better occasion than a country/redneck activity to wear flannel??
This red, white and blue long-sleeved flannel button-down is from H&M. I love how patriotic the colors are. This shirt is a size XS. The cut was designed to be oversize, but I think purchasing actual size (small or medium) would have totally overwhelmed my frame.
I paired the flannel with dark skinny jeans from Forever 21 and black riding boots from Payless Shoesource. All the dark colors kind of blend together in the photo, but it also makes for a streamlined look.
To add some 90s edge, I accessorized with this House of Harlow 1960 Tesselation necklace in silver that came in one of my Rocksbox sets. This isn’t a piece of jewelry I’d wear often, but it adds some much-needed spunk to basic outfits!
You can also wear flannel the hipster way, aka tied around your waist. Who knew that this oh-so-90s trend would come back in style?? This white tank top is from H&M.
How do you wear your flannel? Let me know in the comments!
I would never have guessed those boots are from Payless!! I always forget about how much better they’ve become when I need new shoes. Looks like a shopping trip is in my future :)
Thanks girl! I almost exclusively buy my shoes from Payless. They’ve got great quality and great prices, and when I ruin them, I don’t feel so bad as when I ruin expensive shoes :)
