Head-to-toe black is such a sleek and sophisticated look. Such a monochrome outfit is rarely seen in LA. Rather, people think of all-black as a New York style.
I love color, fun patterns, funky cuts, all of it. But I’m also a big fan of black. And I don’t think head-to-toe black has to be boring! In this outfit I mixed different textures (cotton, spandex, suede) with different “patterns” (glitter, Chevron) and added some jewelry to finish!
I started with the basic black tank top from H&M. Next, I could have added plain black jeans. Instead, I chose to wear these stretchy black pants from H&M. I’m obsessed with these pants. They have some shine/sparkle/glitter in them. They fit like a glove. They’re perfect for work and for play. And they were so cheap!
Wearing the same color shoes as your bottoms helps to lengthen you out and elongate the figure. So I put on these black suede ankle booties from Payless Shoesource. I like that the top of the shoes flare out a little bit, so you’re not getting just one straight line down from hips to ground. You can tell that I’m wearing shoes!
Now that I’ve got the monochrome black going on, it’s time to add in some contrasts. This black and white chevron print scarf from Charming Charlie is one of my favorite accessories. The black matches and the white provides a contrast, and the jagged chevron print pairs well with the edginess of an all-black outfit.
For jewelry, I wanted some silver pieces that have a bit of a punk rock edge. This x-cross Wanderlust & Co. ring was perfect for the job. I also put on this Kendra Scott Mabel necklace in silver platinum drusy. The setting of the jewel is so jagged – just like rough rocks in nature. It’s perfect for this look. My right-hand silver ring is my everyday Tiffany’s T&Co 1837 ring.
