In honor of Veteran’s Day, I thought I’d show you how you can show your patriotism any day without feeling like it’s the 4th of July! Luckily for Americans, our love of red, white and blue has made it feel like the colors go together rather than clash. Here are two new outfit ideas of how you can pair our country’s colors, as well as a link to one of my very first blogs that show you how to make red, white and blue office-appropriate!
First up is this awesome striped top I got at Heavenly Couture in Newport Beach. This waterfront boutique is full of awesome clothes and amazing deals – everything in the store is $16 or less!! Because the white stripe is on the bottom of the shirt, you can pair the shirt with red or blue, but unfortunately not white.
I opted to wear the top with bright red pants from Fashion Rush Clothing. I love how the red pants bring out the middle red stripe in the shirt, and also make the top blue stripe stand out! It’s lucky that the white stripe is in there to break up the block of red.
Because the rest of this outfit is so bright, I added simple white strappy sandals from Forever 21. Voila! Patriotism without feeling like a flag.
Another patriotic outfit option is to wear items that are clearly supposed to be”American pride, and combine them with everyday clothing items to tone them down a bit. When I was exercising my civic duty (a.k.a. voting), I decided to wear this American heart crop top from Forever 21 with high-waisted 80s Mom jeans from H&M. I love the proportions here – the cutoff sleeves with the long pants, the short shirt with the high pants. The brown belt was the perfect addition – as was my “I Voted” sticker!
Last but not least, you can pair solid colors with fun prints for a funky twist on the original red, white and blue. And a blazer makes it office-appropriate! I love this red romper from Forever 21. It is so flattering, and not too short for the office. Best yet, it has pockets!
I paired it with this blue and white polka dot blazer from Fashion Rush, nude rope wedges from Payless Shoesource and a gold giraffe necklace from J.Crew. You can read more about this outfit HERE.
Happy Veteran’s Day to all of the brave men and women who served our country and fought for our freedom! I hope you enjoy your day off (if you have it) and remember to give thanks today!
