The calendar says it’s officially fall, but here in LA you’d never know the difference. The days are still hot as hell, and the nights warm with a cool breeze. You can get away with going to the beach during the day and barely adding any more layers at night.
It is the time of year, though, when pants seem like a nice idea. In the interest of not overheating, though, let’s make them ripped jeans and pair them with flowy tops that let the cool beach breeze in.
I began this outfit with these white distressed jeans from Forever 21. There were only a few pairs left, so I bought them one size too large, as I could not find my actual size. I figured they’d be easy to shrink – just toss them in the dryer and voila.
Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case, so now I have this pair of jeans that doesn’t fit me all too well. Rather than toss them, I decided to use them for more comfy-casual outfits.
To go with the slightly-too-large-ripped-at-the-knees-don’t-care vibe, I added this hot pink Daniel Rainn boho top. Daniel Rainn is known for his beachy bohemian vibe, and this top is perfect. The flowy fit, the scrunchy fabric, the fun tassels – it all exudes casual cool. And the bright color pairs nicely with the crisp white of the jeans. And yes, I am wearing white after Labor Day.
Next, for shoes. I continued the beachy vibe with these gold and brown braided sandals from Forever 21. These shoes are so hippie-licious I can’t even. The soft suede strings tie in the back for a fun take on the traditional sandal, and the gold braid dresses them up a bit. They are super low-key though, and very comfortable.
Next, for accessories. It seems like every single woman has at least one Alex and Ani bangle bracelet, and often they have many more than one. The bohemian charms, like this lotus one, exude California cool. The last step is to put on shades – I love these cheap and simple brown aviators from Forever 21 since I have a terrible habit of losing or breaking sunglasses.
And with outfits like this, summer never has to end!
