I never understood the rule against horizontal stripes – I don’t think they make anyone look wider at all. In fact, they can be a simple yet fun pattern to jazz up any outfit!

This black and white striped sweaterdress is from H&M. It’s very warm, perfect for those cold (55 degree) LA nights! I like that the stripes are so wide and spaced out. It seems different to me than other striped patterns.

Because the pattern is so bold, it would make sense to go with a simple pair of black pumps or black flats. But I was going to a work event, and I love to stand out at these events and make myself more memorable. So I opted for these black and white colorblock heels from Payless ShoeSource instead. I was worried about being too matchy-matchy, but I think that the outfit came off as funky and experimental instead.
