My favorite color to wear is black. I know, I know, that’s a lack of a color. But it is so sleek and I just can’t get enough!
That being said, black is not the most summery color. To make it work for summer, I had to get a little creative.
These black crochet shorts were a gift from my friend Sarah. I’ve never been a big crochet person but I instantly fell in love with these shorts. They hit at the most flattering part of my leg, they’re black and they still work for warm weather! Best yet, they’re “dressed-up” enough so that I can wear them with wedges and not look trashy. These black strappy wedges are from Payless Shoesource and are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned!
I added this black long-sleeved shirt from H&M. The outfit would also work with a black t-shirt, but because the shorts are fairly short, I wanted to be more covered-up on top.
Monochrome black can get boring, so I added a pop of color with this turquoise Ettika “Still Surprise You” choker. Turquoise is so trendy right now, and it’s definitely more summery than black!
How do you make black work in the summertime? Let me know in the comments!
