OOTD: California Cool

We Angelenos are known worldwide for being super-stylish while also maintaining our cool factor. Looking great without looking like we’re trying so hard – it’s quite the image to live up to!

Luckily, our fashion industry is up to the challenge. One of my favorite local designers is Daniel Rainn, who makes California-cool flowy boho tops that look cute but laid-back. It’s the quintessential “girl next door”¬†look.

I love this blue Daniel Rainn blouse. The color is so pretty, and brings out my blue eyes. The multicolored thread is a fun and funky touch that emphasizes the playfulness of the cut. And it’s so comfortable to wear!

Next, for jeans. These dark distressed skinny jeans from Forever 21 are the best. Most distressed denim I find is boyfriend cut or straight-legged. I love skintight jeans with rips in them and this pair really delivers – and didn’t break the bank. I love how the tears have a really understated vibe to them.

What would a SoCal outfit be like without sandals? These braided white sandals from Forever 21 are perfect, and the bright white balances perfectly with the colorful top.

Lastly, for laid-back beachy jewelry. Of course I needed to wear my Alex and Ani gold bangle bracelet, a staple for all LA girls. I also wore my Gorjana Nebasa cuff ring. The gold here chips away the more I wear it, which for many would be a tragedy but for me really adds to the character of the piece. It’s much more carefree and laid-back than a pristine piece of jewelry – and after all, Alex and Ani pieces start tarnishing immediately too, so the two items matched.

How do you rock the laid-back beach vibe? Let me know in the comments!
