OOTD: Cold Shoulder

The cut-out shoulder (also known as the “cold shoulder“) trend exploded on the scene last season, and it is clear that the style is here to stay. Cut-out shoulders are super-fun. We had sleeveless tops, then we had off-the-shoulder tops, now we have cold shoulder tops. Contrary to the other styles that are completely strapless, cut-out shoulder tops DO have straps. They even have long sleeves. The only thing missing is – you guessed it – the shoulders.

I love this white flowy cutout-shoulder blouse from Banana Republic. I really like that a super-trendy fashion is also work-appropriate. After all, over all, the blouse is very covered-up. It shows no cleavage, it has long sleeves and it is long enough to cover my midriff. The only thing showing is the shoulder, which is hardy scandalous. Instead, it’s a subtle and fun way to work fashion into a work-appropriate office outfit.

This blouse would pair easily with a nice pencil skirt. However, here I decided to play up the “young” factor and pair it with dark skinny jeans from Forever 21. In this way, the blouse can be styled for a Casual Friday in the office.

Any time I’m wearing a clothing item that I want to draw attention to, I wear these brown suede ankle booties from Payless. They’re super cute and go with everything, but they’re also plain and low-key. They allow the focus to stay on the top.

I kept jewelry simple and classy with this gold and pearl floral necklace from Forever 21.

How do you rock the cold-shoulder trend? Let me know in the comments!
