I love brown! It’s such a problem. I buy so much brown that I have to make sure I mix up my brown items with colorful items to avoid being boring. I love light dusty brown, warm chocolatey brown and everything in between.

I decided to make brown the centerpiece of this outfit by using patterns and basic items. First up is this plain white long-sleeved v-neck shirt from Target. Target has the BEST long-sleeved shirts of any store I’ve found. They fit perfectly, are super-soft and are often on sale.

Next, I added ankle jeans from Forever 21. White shirt, dark jeans: super classic, but boring.

The true star of this OOTD is my new brown plaid scarf from Charming Charlie. I love that the scarf print looks somewhat like a Burberry print but isn’t so similar that it looks like a blatant copy. The material is soft and the scarf is long, so you can wrap it any way you like.

Last but not least came these brown ankle booties from Payless Shoesource. And there you go! Brown, patterns, classic pieces and layers to keep warm. What could be simpler?
