People who live in other states often scoff when Angelenos refer to“winter”. They say we don’t really know what cold or winter are. And they’re right. That’s the whole point of why we live here. Enjoy shoveling snow while I was drinking beer on a rooftop in San Diego getting a suntan, jerks.
Anyway, in LA our idea of layering is a lot more fun. In New York, people have to plan not only their outfit, but what undershirts, underwear, tights and socks they’re going to wear underneath to stay warm. And THEN they need to put coats on top of it, too. In LA, we can play with proportions and layers in a fun and fashionable way that is only slightly related to how cold it is.
I started with this basic white long-sleeved shirt from H&M’s Basics collection. Next, I added black glitter Spandex pants from H&M. I love these pants – the shiny metallic material is a little glittery/punk rock/edgy. But the effect is subtle, so you can wear them to work.
On top, I added this denim studded vest from Fashion Rush Clothing. I love this vest. I’m not a big denim person, but when you pair a blue denim vest with black jeans or pants, it’s a good effect and not a Texas Tuxedo effect. I also love the cropped fit, hence the”LA layering, and the punk rock studs. Combined with the edgy pants, this is a look I love.
Studs and black pants can only go well with buckled riding boots. No dainty footwear over here. These boots are from Payless Shoesource.
I kept jewelry simple, to keep the focus on the outfit. All I have is my simple Tiffany’s ring and this silver cat ring from Meowingtons.
