I’m a big fan of neutral colors like beige, white, brown and black. I think that neutrals are far from boring, if you play them right! With subtler colors and patterns, you’re able to have a lot more fun with cut, style and accessories.
Take this beige shift dress from Forever 21, for example. I purchased this dress because it is PERFECT for work events. Daytime panel? Check. Cocktails by the pool? Done deal. The dress is a decent length and covers all of my chest. The shift dress style screams”working girl”. And the neutral beige color is completely unoffending.
Then you see the fun cutouts on top. These cutout shapes add so much spunk to the otherwise ordinary dress. Best of all, their placement means you can’t wear a necklace – so accessorizing is already made easier.
Sometimes I wear this dress with my nude canvas wedges from Target, but sometimes I step away from the beige and opt for brown wedges, like these ones from Payless.
For accessories, it’s simple. Beige is more of a warm color, so accessories should definitely be gold. I kept it easy with a gold Gorjana cuff ring and that’s it.
This dress is perfect for work events, and it’s even more perfect with the addition of a crisp blazer. This cropped white blazer from H&M is the icing on the cake. It’s cropped, so it doesn’t overwhelm a dress. And its sharp structure matches well with the geometric shapes.
How do you jazz up neutrals? Let me know in the comments!
