OOTD – Patriotic Rompers Made Office-Ready

In keeping with the spirit of the just-past 4th of July, I thought I’d share one of my favorite outfits.

Red Romper Blue Blazer Hefe Cropped
Romper, Forever 21. Blazer, Fashion Rush. Heels, Payless Shoesource. Necklace, J. Crew.

I’ve been searching for the perfect romper for years, but rompers are usually a disaster for my proportions. As a woman with an hourglass body, finding one-pieces that fit is especially hard. Anything that fits my hips is gaping huge at the waist, and anything that fits my waist is uncomfortably tight on my legs/hips! Not to mention the tops – if something fits me on top, chances are it’s riding up like Steve Urkel’s pants.

So you can imagine my utter joy when I discovered this slinky red romper at Forever 21 – for just $9! The small size fits great – the strapless cut highlights my shoulders and collarbone, the waist hits at the perfect place for comfort and the length highlights my legs without being too short. (I fll in love with this romper so much I bought it in 2 other colors/prints).

I love romping around in this romper, but wasn’t sure how work-appropriate it was. So I got patriotic and paired it with this awesome blue and white polka dot blazer from Fashion Rush. I love the way the blazer nips in at the waist, highlighting your figure while still being conservative.

Next, all the bright colors on top called for some neutrals on bottom. These nude wedges from Payless Shoesource are super-comfortable. They are nude and shiny in the front, but woven rope on the sides – perfect for summer. My favorite giraffe necklace from J. Crew topped off the outfit.
