OOTD: The Dog Days of Summer

The last days of summer are upon us soon the days will get shorter and the evenings a bit chillier and – God forbid – you might need to bring a cardigan with you out at night.

So I’m in the mood to work my summer outfits for all they’re worth! I put together the quintessential SoCal outfit that can transition from the beach to the mall to brunch with the girls, running errands or lounging by the pool.

I began with this flowy boho white top from Daniel Rainn. I love this top because although it is free-flowing, casual and laid-back, it is also a tad bit form-fitting (vs. some boho clothes where I literally feel like I am swimming in fabric). The semi-sheer nature makes it fun and sexy, but it’s also appropriate enough to wear out and about/to work.

Next for my favorite high-waisted distressed jean shorts from Target. I’ve had these shorts for 2 years and I wear them to death. They hit at the most flattering part of my waist, and the wide leg holes make them flare out a bit, making anyone’s legs look super long and lean.

Since we’re going for a warm and sunny vibe, I chose gold as my accessory of choice. I added these brown and gold braided sandals from Forever 21. These are so cute because they tie in the back with brown suede strings. A really fun touch.

Next, I popped on an Alex and Ani gold charm bangle, and this gold “Nebasa” cuff ring from Gorjana. My other ring, as always, is the Tiffany’s double band.

The icing on the cake (and protection for all this sun I’m apparently getting in my summer outfit) is gold Forever 21 sunglasses – with American flags printed on the sides. Yep.
