OOTD: The Textures of Fall

The best thing about fall fashion is all the fun fabrics and textiles involved. From suede to velvet, corduroy, fur, leather and satin, fall fashion is incredibly tactile. And even better, these materials work really well when mixed and matched with other fall fabrics. Here is how I put together an outfit that not only rocks fall colors, but also utilizes fall textures.

I started with this brown faux leather skirt from Forever 21. This skirt is one of my favorite finds. The cut is so flattering – it’s high-waisted, making my waist look small, and flips out, making my legs look slim. It’s also a very cute, flirty silhouette. The faux leather is perfect for fall, and the color is en pointe. It’s a versatile shade of brown that I can pair with almost anything.

Next up is this mustard long-sleeved crop top, also from Forever 21. I love crop tops and showing my upper stomach, but I also love long sleeves and hiding my arms. Long sleeved crop tops sound counterintuitive but they’re one of my favorite things to wear! This mustard yellow color just SCREAMS autumn. And the cropped cut pairs well with the high waist of the skirt. Not to mention the cotton is super soft to the touch!

Now for shoes. These nude suede heels from Payless are so perfect. They add some major height – about 4-5 inches – but because there is both a thick heel and a platform bottom, they are comfortable and easy to walk in. The nude color is great for bright yellows and subtle shades of brown. And the suede texture is ideal for the season.

To tie the outfit together, I finished with this gold chain necklace from Forever 21. The long arrow points down, molding the cropped top and high waisted skirt together. It’s also shiny and sleek, in contrast to the muted, matte textures of the skirt and heels.
