OOTD: Transitioning From Winter to Spring with Peasant Tops

Daylight Savings is here, meaning spring is just around the corner! And the weather here in LA sure is reflecting it. From 65 and gloomy to 88 at the beach, this week has been a weather whirlwind. It’s time to whip out the warm-weather clothes, but dressing in full-on florals and brights still seems strange this early in March.

The solution? Mix spring trends (like peasant tops) and cuts (like crop tops and miniskirts) with winter colors and textures.

This black peasant top is from Forever 21. I like that it is subtly a peasant top – it’s oversize, but not billowing. Designers this spring are really going overboard with the sizing – when you’re swimming in an XS top, things have gone too far.

The crepe-y layers are fun, and still fit in with winter (as does the black color). But the boho trend is en pointe for spring.

I paired the top with a maroon miniskirt from H&M. This skirt is part of the “Basics” collection, meaning everything there is mix and match 2/$10. Amazing! Maroon is the color of the winter 2014/2015, so it makes sense to use it to transition into spring.

Last, I added these black and nude ballet flats from Payless Shoesource. The quilted texture and black color say winter, while the fact that I’m wearing flats with a miniskirt shows that I’m aware that it is now warm outside.
