Whoever said you can’t wear white after Labor Day was totally limiting their wardrobe for no good reason. White is a great color to transition into fall with. The key to seamlessly segueing summer into fall is to play with proportions – less material for summer, and more for fall.
I began with this white flowy midi skirt from Forever 21. This conservative length skirt is perfect for fall. It is short and breezy enough to not suffocate in the summer heat, but it’s long enough to keep your legs warm and signal the cooler weather to come.
In keeping with the “White After Labor Day” theme, I added this white mesh crop top from Fashion Rush Clothing. I like how the short tank top crop top contrasts with the longer flowy midi skirt.
To keep the focus on white, I added nude canvas wedges from Target Style. These wedges are perfect for summer, fall and spring. The canvas screams summer but they are neutral enough to carry into fall.
Last but not least, for jewelry. I wanted to tie the whole outfit together, so I decide to emphasize the gold zippers on the wedges with this gold necklace from Forever 21. This necklace is the best for tying together items of different proportions. The shorter triangle draws the eye up, while the long gold chain draws the eye down. This meshes the crop top together with the long skirt perfectly.
How do you break the outdated “no white after Labor Day” rule?? Let me know in the comments!
