Winter dressing can be a bummer. You need pants (or you’ll freeze), you need boots or other close-toed shoes to keep your feet warm, you need long sleeves, you need dark colors or you’ll look out-of-place.
My favorite way to jazz up winter outfits is with funky outerwear and interesting textiles. I started with a basic pair of dark skinny jeans from Forever 21. Next, I added this fun maroon top from Fashion Rush Clothing. This top is super flattering. It is shorter in the back, flowy in the sleeves and a beautiful color. The silky sheer material makes it a lot more fun than just a solid-colored maroon top!
These dark brown ankle booties from Payless Shoesource go really well. Because the top and the jeans are so dark, light-colored shoes would just make no sense. This brown is warm and chocolatey and matches well.
The final key piece is the fun! Add your personal style to this blouse-jeans-boots combo. I opted for this amazing white fur vest from Cotton On because it makes me so happy. It’s a statement piece, it keeps me warm and I can pet myself like an animal during the day…what? Weird?
You can also go for a colorful long necklace, a funky-patterned scarf, a different kind of coat, etc. The key here is to not blend in with the other cold girls on the street.
