OOTN: Baby It’s Cold Outside

It’s been so unreasonably and uncharacteristically cold here in LA this winter. I don’t own a coat or much cold-weather attire, so going out in the elements can be a real hassle.

When I go out to bars or on dates, I want to look really cute. Polished, sexy, confident. I do NOT feel any of these things in lots of layers. Finding the perfect date outfit for these cold temperatures has been a real struggle.

This outfit has by far been my favorite solution. It’s by no means perfect – it involves a t-shirt, for goodness sake – but it’s cute, winter-appropriate and body flattering.

This short-sleeved cuffed tunic is from H&M. I raided H&M’s Basics collection for new t-shirts, long-sleeved shirts and v-necks. While there, I found these oversize tunics and fell in love. I purchased a size XS because the cut is SO oversize, it would have absolutely dwarfed me to buy a S or M like I normally would.

These black liquid leather leggings are also from H&M. I purchased them many years ago and they are by far my favorite item in my closet. In keeping with the trends and the times, I’ve front-tucked my tunic into the leggings. It looks polished (tucked in) and carefree (hanging loose) at the same time – the perfect vibe for a date. Also, the tunic is rather long, so in order to avoid looking like you’re wearing a dress over pants, the front-tuck is necessary.

These black boots are from Payless Shoesource. I love them because they’re slightly heeled yet comfortable to walk in, and the high cut keeps my calves warm.

For jewelry, I wanted to keep with the dressy and sophisticated vibe. This black and gold necklace is from Perry Street. I also wore a delicate gold cuff ring from Gorjana. Both items came in separate Rocksbox sets, showing just how much the Rocksbox stylists crush it at their jobs.
