If there is one trend that sure doesn’t sound cute, it is”batwing sleeves“. This trend refers to a sleeve that is wide at the shoulder, with deep armholes, for a “wing-like” appearance. Basically it is a little capelet for your arms, and super flattering despite the weird name.
I love batwing sleeves because, as my readers know, I absolutely detest my arms. I’m always looking for cute new styles that hide my arms without it looking like I’m doing it on purpose.
This black sequin batwing dress from Boohoo is my new obsession. On the top is a low-cut v-neck, with chiffon batwing sleeves. A nipped-in waist leads into a black sequin pencil skirt, midi length and oh so figure-flattering. I wish this dress came in 100 different colors – I would wear it every day!
I paired the dress with black and gold Valentino Rockstud strappy heels for a bachelorette dinner. It turns out we were WAY overdressed, as the covid pandemic closed all of Terranea Resort‘s fine dining restaurants except for the one that had picnic tables on the beach. But oh well, as I always say, it is better to be overdressed and overeducated! And honestly, where else could I wear sequins in this 2020 year from hell?
