When dressing for your body type, sometimes you realize that a classic LBD just isn’t right for your body type. I have an hourglass figure and am 5’6″, meaning short dresses often hit at the widest part of my thighs, if they even fully cover my butt.
As a result, I’ve turned to the uber-flattering midi dress instead. Midi dresses fall somewhere between the knee and ankle, highlighting shapely calves and skimming over curvier thighs. I absolutely love the feminine hourglass silhouette they provide!
I wore this black ribbed button-front midi dress on a double date to dinner and a show. I felt right at home in one of Temecula’s nicest restaurants and at the theatre, even though the dress was technically cotton (cotton at night?? My word).
When wearing a more covered-up silhouette like a midi dress, it’s important to keep footwear in mind. Here, suede strappy block heels were the perfect addition. But booties – even peep-toe booties – would have been too clunky.
