OOTN: Tahitian Nights

There’s just something about being on vacation that makes you want to dress differently. You don’t want to wear the same clothes that you’d wear in your 9-5, or on your biweekly Trader Joe’s run. No. You want to wear something that says, I’m on vacation, I will NOT be checking my emails, I’m an easy breezy version of myself, now where is my goddamned margarita?

Or something like that.

While shopping for some pieces to pick up for my recent trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, I found this tropical pencil skirt at Charlotte Russe. My immediate thought was that it looked like the sarong that Kristen Bell wore in Couple’s Retreat or Forgetting Sarah Marshall or some other awesome occasion that she got to be paid for being in Hawaii for.

My second thought was that it would be perfect for Mexico!

Luckily for me, this cotton stretch pencil skirt was only $3, so I snagged two, one that was more fitting for daytime, and this pretty black floral one.

Because it was hot and humid as hell in Cabo, I paired the skirt with a black high-neck crop top from Forever 21 and black strappy wedges from Payless.

I kept jewelry simple – no one wants to be sweating into fake gold on vacation. This gold leaf necklace is from Forever 21, and I thought it was a fitting compliment to the floral pattern on the skirt.
