I LOVE glitter, sequins, sparkle, shine, rhinestones, all of it. However, now that I’m 25, there are very few occasions in which I get to indulge in my sparkly fantasies. Those include Halloween, New Year’s Eve and, well, that’s it.
That’s the main reason why I love Vegas so much. I could live without the drive, or the desert, or the clubs. But Vegas not only allows over-the-top, shiny, tacky, super-fun clothing, it encourages it.
So when I’m in Vegas, there’s no wearing ordinary clothes. Nothing I could wear in LA, even if it’s my very favorite outfit either. Because in Vegas, you have the opportunity to dress as outrageously sparkly and skanky as you damn well please.
I bought this long-sleeved silver sequin dress at Windsor for New Year’s Eve. I rocked it, and then put it away in my closet, sad and lonely and useless. Then I planned a trip to Vegas, and I knew this was the perfect opportunity to break it back out again.
I have always wanted a full-on sequin long-sleeved dress, but they all tend to fit me poorly. Some gape on my shoulders, others don’t fit my thighs, others just fit weird and the sequins fold in on each other. Finally, after years of persistence and frustration in changing rooms, I found a great fit at Windsor. And for only $50!
The black liner is wonderful because it separates my bare skin from the sequins – aka less rubbing and scratching and discomfort.
The best part about the dress is that it’s so over-the-top, adding jewelry would be too much. So it’s incredibly easy to accessorize. I just throw on these nude suede heels from Payless Shoesource and my everyday silver Tiffany’s ring and I’m ready to hit the town (or the Strip).
