It’s freezing outside, and you’re going out. What to wear? You want to look cute and appropriate for the season, but you don’t want to shiver to death.
I’m a big fan of traditional cold-weather colors, such as maroon and chocolate brown. So I decided to implement those colors into this outfit, and then add traditionally winter textures and accessories.
First up is this long-sleeved maroon dress from Forever 21. I like how figure-fitting this dress is, but it definitely makes it difficult to eat or drink a lot in it. You sure can’t beat the rich jewel tones though.
Suede is another great winter fabric, so I chose these chocolate brown suede ankle booties from Fashion Rush Clothing. Many people tell me they look like”elf boots from Lord of the Rings?? although which Lord of the Rings elves are galavanting around in stilettos I’m not really sure. Although these booties have fairly tall stilettos, they’re also pretty comfortable for a few hours.
These colors are very wintery, but the cuts are more like fall. To make a “winter” statement, I added this brown and beige scarf from Charming Charlie. The print looks a little like a Burberry print to me, but different enough to not be a knockoff. The warm brown emphasizes the brown boots and also compliments the maroon.
And voila. Appropriate for the season, kind of warm, and very cute.
