On a recent Friday day off, I decided to run some errands. On the way, I figured I’d meet my friend for lunch near her office in Beverly Hills. After all, when we all work 9-5, none of our friends get to see where we work or see us during the day. I figured it would be a neat opportunity.
By searching near restaurants near Rodeo, I found rave reviews for a place called Coupa Cafe. The food looked good, had a prime location (literally right next door to public city parking) and a nice outdoor patio. I met my friend there and settled in for lunch!
The place was practically deserted, which I found to be incredibly surprising for a beautiful sunny Friday afternoon in an area where hundreds of people work and presumably have client meetings, and in an area where thousands more tourists come every day.
However, that just meant the more room and attention for us! We got a seat right on the beautiful front patio, so we could people-watch the passersby on the street. Scott Disick and Kendall Jenner were having lunch at Il Pastaio across the street at the time, so there was a huge paparazzi commotion over there and our quiet patio was left well enough alone.
With all the Mediterranean/Italian/Californian options on the menu, I had a hard time choosing what I wanted. Because I order a caprese panini almost everywhere I go, I opted for something new and got the spaghetti pomodoro with tomato sauce, garlic, fresh basil and shaved Parmesan cheese. My friend chose the oven roasted turkey panini, which is served with swiss cheese, tomato, lettuce, herbs, aioli and dijon mustard.
Both our dishes were AMAZING! I devoured that pasta, even though it was a huge serving. It could easily have made for two meals. Our server was kind and attentive as well. I wish I had more time to just relax on the patio and enjoy the sunshine and cool breeze, but I’ll definitely be back to do so!
