Shameless Foodie: Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen

It’s not often that a restaurant at a theme park gets noticed for delicious food, but Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen, located at Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, is different.

Ralph Brennan and his family have served Louisiana / Southern / Cajun food to Disneyland-goers for over fifty years. The flavors of New Orleans have always been present at Disneyland, from the Gumbo shop in New Orleans Square to the Louisiana food served at the high-end Blue Bayou restaurant, located inside the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.

Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen is way better than these other locations, though, because they provide much more menu variety, sit-down table service and even live jazz in the evenings.

As a vegetarian, Cajun food can be difficult for me, but I was absolutely obsessed with the flavors of Ralph Brennan’s.

Bury me 6 feet under with a thousand trays of Garlic Cheese Bread.

Our table started with the Southern Garlic Cheese Bread, with mozzarella, basil, roasted garlic and olive oil. Believe me when I say I could have eaten 10 orders of this gooey heaven.

For my entree, I ordered the caprese salad, which was served with more garlic cheese toast – yum.

But I didn’t have much room for food after the delicious New Orleans-themed drinks. I could drink the Creole Pear Mojito (with Absolut Pear Vodka, Mint, Simple Syrup & Soda) all day, every day. It was light and refreshing and was actually much stronger than it tasted.

Other themed drinks include Pineapple Milk, Southern Peach Sweet Tea, Huckleberry Lemonade and the Southern Cosmopolitan.

If Anaheim wasn’t so far, and Downtown Disney so crowded, I’d make the drive out just for lunch and drinks. That’s how good Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen is!
