Getting tipsy with friends at the wineries is not only my favorite fall activity, it’s also the best way to enjoy delicious food and cheat on your diet.
One of my favorite wineries to eat at is Thornton Winery, here in Temecula Wine Country. Not only does Thornton have delicious flavored sparkling wines, from peach to pineapple, raspberry and pomegranate, but they have really good food.
On this occasion, my future cousin-in-law and I split the Brussels sprouts, cooked just the way we like them with sherry vinegar, goat cheese, red wine balsamic reduction and candied walnuts (bacon on the side). So decadent, especially for a vegetable!
For my meal, I ordered the strawberry balsamic flatbread with mozzarella and caramelized onions. Normally this flatbread also comes with chicken and bacon, but I opted without.
On my next visit, I devoured an entire plate of summer vegetable fettuccine, with mascarpone, cherry tomatoes, lemon, sweet yellow corn, asparagus and kalamata olives.
The lighting was terrible, so these pictures don’t even begin to do the dish justice. Just take my word for it that it was absolutely amazing and so fresh.
