So many good nights (and mornings) include champagne. Who doesn’t love the bubbly drink? There are so many different ways to drink it – plain and sweet, plain and dry, in a mimosa, in a bellini, as a topper for a mixed drink, an addition to a punch like sangria, etc.

Well, the folks behind Aqua Lounge in Downtown LA love champagne so much that they decided to make an entire bar dedicated to it. Of course, as soon as I found out about it, I had to go and try it for myself.

Aqua Lounge is located in the Historic Core of Downtown. It’s by the creators of another awesome bar, Onyx, so it’s attached. Once you go inside, you’re instantly mesmerized by the walls of colored bubbles. The clear glass walls have tons of”champagne? bubbles inside them that float around, and change colors from green to blue to pink to purple. The bar is also like this! Seriously, you could be hypnotized and stare for hours. Unfortunately, the lighting of these walls don’t really make for good photos, as you can see by my failed attempts below. But Instagram is always worth a try, as I say.

What to order? Champagne, duh! They serve 15 types of champagne by the glass at any given time, and 150 types by the bottle. They also serve other types of alcohol, but I mean come on, when at a champagne bar?

The best part about Aqua Lounge is that not very many people know about it. I’ve never experienced a line to get in, and there’s always a lounge chaise or two open to sit and relax. On super-slow nights, I’ve even had the bartender come up and offer us a big bowl of fresh-made popcorn (they have a machine in the corner). So Aqua Lounge is definitely not the place you want to go when you want to rage and dance, but it’s a wonderful bar to relax, drink good champagne, enjoy a unique atmosphere and actually hold a conversation. Great for a romantic date, or for a night out with friends.
